volunteering

We are once again looking for friendly and enthusiastic individuals to volunteer for Puistojuhlat! Volunteers play a key role in the success of our two-day festival. We offer various tasks, including ticket sales, merchandise sales, stage crew, and recycling guidance.

What we offer our volunteers:

  • A relaxed team and an engaging work environment.
  • Restaurant meals on your working days.
  • An official festival T-shirt and a volunteer wrap party.
  • A personal STAFF pass, which grants you access to Jyväskylä Festival´s performances even outside of your shifts.

The Jyväskylä Festival, which also organizes Puistojuhlat, will take place from July 1st to July 7th, 2026.

Below you will find descriptions for each role and basic information about volunteer duties. The registration form is located at the bottom of this page. We hope you are available for both days of Puistojuhlat. Closer to the event, all volunteers will receive volunteer and safety guides via email, containing all practical information. Additionally, we will hold an info session in late June to go over the job descriptions in more detail.

Your task is to transport various goods and staff before, during, and after the festival. You will work as part of the transport team. Tasks may also include festival setup and dismantling. Proper outdoor gear is recommended; we provide the vehicle. A Category B driver’s license and a commitment to following traffic rules and instructions are required.

STAGEHAND

Stagehand duties generally involve stage construction, dismantling, and providing technical support. Tasks often include installing and testing equipment (lighting and sound), setting up sets, and assisting performers and staff with moving gear. You will work within the Stage Manager’s team.

PROMO

This role involves distributing festival posters around the Jyväskylä area before the festival and working in the promo team during the event week. Most tasks take place before the festival, during May and June.

COMMUNICATIONS

Assisting with communication tasks, such as entering performance data into event calendars, assisting with the Jyväskylä Festival´s image bank, helping with social media, and making minor website updates. You will work as part of the communications team alongside our specialist. You will need your own device (phone, tablet, or laptop).

PHOTOGRAPHY & VIDEOGRAPHY

Your task is to capture the performers, the audience, and the overall festival atmosphere. Photography takes place at the Puistojuhlat festival area and, depending on availability, at other Jyväskylä Festival events. Own equipment is required.

CATERING

You will ensure that artists, staff, and volunteers are fed and hydrated. Tasks include maintaining food service areas and setting out catering supplies.

TICKET SALES & CUSTOMER SERVICE

You will sell tickets and festival products, perform wristband exchanges, and handle other customer service duties. Sales take place at the entrances or other designated points. Wristband exchange points are located at the festival entrance, Shopping Centre Seppä, and Versonraitti. The Versonraitti point also handles artist and media passes. In the cloakroom (narikka), you will look after guests’ belongings. At info points, you will guide visitors on all festival-related matters.

Your task is to sell and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in the Puistojuhlat licensed areas. Applicants must be 18 or older. An Alcohol Passport (anniskelupassi) is an advantage but not required.

DECORATION

Decorating the Lounaispuisto festival area and dismantling decorations with the Decor Manager. Tasks include setting up the area, hanging decorations, and potential craft projects before the event.

STAGE CREW & CONSTRUCTION (ROADING)

Moving equipment and assembling/disassembling festival structures. Most tasks are centered around Puistojuhlat. Proper gear (safety shoes, gloves, etc.) is highly recommended.

Working as part of the maintenance team. You may also provide recycling advice to festival guests. You will help ensure the Lounaispuisto festival area remains clean and pleasant during the event.
